Some form of creativity has always played an important role in Darleen's life. She loves to express her creative spirit by sculpting in clay. Her favorite subjects are usually commissioned portraits in clay of children or dogs. She works in bas-relief and 3-dimensional forms. Her greatest talent lies in the ability to look at a photo and then to accurately duplicate the image of what she sees into clay forms. Her statues of dogs are amazingly life-like because of Darleen's artistic ability with colors to exactly match the true shading and markings of her subjects.
Mrs. Miller has studied sculpting techniques for many years under well-known local artists, such as: Babs Mellor, Norma Nicks, Nancy Tapp and with internationally renowned sculptors: Eugene Daub, Rosiland Cook and Vincent Antiano. She is an active member of the Wichita Sculptor's Guild. |
