Sherry is a native Kansan. She has been sculpting 15 years. Her life has really changed since she began sculpting. Seventeen years ago her 13 year old son died suddenly. With her only child gone she turned to art as a form of therapy. It has truly been a blessing. Art has helped her heart cope with the loss. Sherry has had many wonderful things happen and has made some lasting friends through her art.

Sherry studied with local artist Nancy Tapp. She has taken a figurative sculpture class from Lincoln Fox, a portrait/bas relief class from Eugene Daub, and a recent 40-hour workshop in Forensic Art at OU, and will complete another 40 hours in the fall of 2008.

She is a member of Wichita Sculpture Guild, Wichita Artist´s Guild, and Wichita Women Artists.

She has exhibited at Century II, Bank IV, Old Town, El Dorado Art Gallery, Halstead Fine Arts Festival, Stein Eck Gallery, Hutchinson Art Gallery, Ducks Unlimited, Carriage Gallery in Newton, Ks, City Arts in Wichita, Center for the Arts also in Wichita, and has a bronze sculpture in The Frank Howell Gallery in Sante Fe, NM.

Sherry has completed a bronze sculpture of a mother camel and baby, and the Malayan Tapir and baby for Envision displayed at the Sedgwick County Zoo.

She has completed bronze eagles for Maize South Middle School, Aldersgate Methodist Church, and Complete High School Maize. A life size bronze child will be added at CHSM.

She has a bronze child reading a book at the library in Goddard, and at the United Methodist Church in Mulvane, KS. She has pieces at Halstead Library, Halstead Rehab Hospital, and Halstead Chamber of Commerce Building.

Sherry loves to sculpt children, dogs, animals, Indians, angels, and portraits of all kinds of people. Art adds so much beauty to the world. Art heals the soul, and renews the spirit. All things seem possible, for we are all kindred spirits.
